Senior Copywriter

Minimum experience and requirements.

  • Requires 7+ years of experience with copywriting
  • Has strong command of writing principles, English grammar and AP style
  • Possesses an expert knowledge in copywriting, brand strategy and video production
  • Has ability to work within outlined brand standards and create new ones
  • Possesses working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Keynote
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintains a high attention to detail as well as strong organizational and time management skills
  • Performs duties and tasks independently with little supervision, while also understanding when to collaborate and seek guidance
  • Is flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Possesses curiosity and confidence to solve complex problems

 

Principle accountabilities & job functions.

Creative & technical copywriting:
  • Develop smart, strategic copy for marketing campaigns, online content, video and other communications that solve the creative brief, engage the audience and drive results
  • Write in brand voice dictated by the client’s established guidelines
  • Create content purposefully for the channel it’s delivered on
  • Apply knowledge of English grammar and AP style
  • Modify copy until team members and clients are satisfied

 

Brand and messaging strategy and execution:
  • Develop comprehensive brand and messaging strategies, overseeing their execution across various channels and touchpoints
  • Work within existing brand and messaging strategies to create strategic campaign concepts and executions

 

Campaign strategy, concepting and execution:
  • Collaborate with creative directors, designers, marketing strategists, media buyers and client success team members to develop creative campaigns and executions that are on-strategy and produce results
  • Present and sell concepts, design and layouts to clients

 

Photo and video production:
  • Oversee the planning of photo/video production projects, including sourcing partners and negotiating estimates
  • Oversee the execution of photo/video production projects, including concept development and pre-production planning to shooting, editing and post-production

 

Research and strategy:
  • Research target audiences, competitors and industry trends relevant to the client’s business
  • Understand and apply knowledge of: user experience; branding guidelines; social media best practices; basic page layout and design
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices—including but not limited to inclusive language, accessibility considerations and the impact of popular terminology
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned clients; businesses and marketing objectives

 

Team and culture leadership:
  • Develop relationships with each team member, providing coaching and mentoring to junior team members
  • Contribute to the growth and goals of the agency and team by meeting deadlines, following agency processes, attending agency outings, and exemplifying agency core values

Shaped by her background in creative direction, Leanne leads the agency’s culture and creative vision and also oversees the operations that allow a team of marketing, design and media specialists to create powerful and effective work for their client partners.

Leanne began her professional career in New York City working for some of the nation’s leading agencies. In 2016, after a five-month sabbatical around the world, she returned to her hometown and joined Ervin & Smith. Her global perspective and expanded professional experience influence the work she does today.
