More than a milestone: what B Corp means for Ervin & Smith.

There are moments in business that make me pause and reflect. Today is one of those moments. I’m thrilled to share that Ervin & Smith has officially become a Certified B Corporation! 

For those familiar with B Corp, you know it’s not a badge you buy; it’s something you earn. It’s a rigorous third-party validation of how a company balances profit with purpose. But more than that, it’s a commitment. To doing business differently. To leading with integrity. To putting people first. 

Why did we pursue this? Because we believe marketing should make an impact. We work with companies that shape industries and communities, and we know our influence extends beyond campaign metrics. I say it to our team all the time: The work that we do is important, but not as important as HOW we do it.  

The certification process wasn’t exactly what we expected. We had set it as a ten-year goal (as in 2034!), assuming it would be a major undertaking. But as we worked through it, we were pleasantly surprised to find that, aside from a few technical documentations, we were already operating within B Corp score minimums! It reinforced what we’ve always believed: Doing the right thing as a business isn’t just aspirational, it’s achievable.  

And while we’re proud of this milestone, B Corp isn’t a destination — it’s a mindset of continuous improvement. We’ll keep raising the bar because that’s what our employees, clients and future iterations of this company deserve.  

For our team, I hope this certification affirms what we’ve always strived to prove: that Ervin & Smith is a different kind of company. A place where people can do meaningful work with people they respect. A place where talent is valued, ideas are heard and culture isn’t just wishful thinking — it’s a daily practice. 

For our clients, it’s a signal of the kind of partner we are. If you’ve worked with us, you know we don’t just check boxes. We challenge. We push. We ask the tough questions because we’re invested in your success. And now, you can also be confident that the values we bring to our client relationships are the same ones we uphold internally: accountability, transparency and a commitment to long-term impact.

Shaped by her background in creative direction, Leanne leads the agency’s culture and creative vision and also oversees the operations that allow a team of marketing, design and media specialists to create powerful and effective work for their client partners.

Leanne began her professional career in New York City working for some of the nation’s leading agencies. In 2016, after a five-month sabbatical around the world, she returned to her hometown and joined Ervin & Smith. Her global perspective and expanded professional experience influence the work she does today.
